Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device in which clearance between an element substrate and a counter substrate is prevented from being varied, and also to provide an electronic apparatus equipped with the liquid crystal device.SOLUTION: In the element substrate 10 of the liquid crystal device 100, an external region 10b2 of a peripheral region 10b has a first through-hole 72b and a second through-hole 73b, of which the opening densities are lower as compared with those in an internal region 10b1 of the peripheral region 10b. Due to the fact, when interlayer dielectrics 72, 73 are polished, between the external region 10b2 and the internal region 10b1, level differences 72x, 73x are configured by which a space between the element substrate 10 and the counter substrate 20 in the external region 10b2 is made narrower than that between the element substrate 10 and the counter substrate 20 in the internal region 10b1, and the inner peripheral edge 107a of a seal material 107 is located on the inner side (internal region 10b1) than such level differences 72x, 73x.
【課題】素子基板と対向基板との離間距離がばらつくことを防止することができる液晶装置および該液晶装置を備えた電子機器を提供すること。 【解決手段】液晶装置100の素子基板10において、周辺領域10bの外側領域10b2については、内側領域10b1に比して第1スルーホール72bの開口密度および第2スルーホール73bの開口密度が低い。このため、層間絶縁膜72、73を研磨すると、外側領域10b2と内側領域10b1との間には、外側領域10b2における素子基板10と対向基板20との間隔を内側領域10b1における素子基板10と対向基板20との間隔よりも狭くする段差72x、73xが構成され、かかる段差72x、73xより外側(外側領域10b2)にシール材107の内周縁107aが位置する。 【選択図】図4
